The Composers

Blake Gillette

Blake Gillette is currently an orthopedic surgeon in Spanish Fork, UT but also the musical product of a mother who would never let him give up on the piano. He learned to play the piano by ear with the Suzuki method and then learned how to read music while playing hymns in priesthood as a young deacon. The original song “He’ll Provide a Way” was the first song he ever wrote as a 16 year-old in high school, and he continued to write Book of Mormon songs over the next 26 years until now!
Blake published his first music book of primary song arrangements, I Will Be What I Believe, in 2017 with Cedarfort. The title song from this best-selling compilation of Primary favorites spawned a successful YouTube video with over 7 million views and counting. A Christmas album followed in 2018 entitled JOY: Now Their King He Shall be Known along with a musical collaboration with Holly Gardner and her book “Searching for Christmas.” He has collaborated with many other musicians and friends including the songs “With all Your Light” (Brittney Bennett), “I Feel God’s Light”(Lori Walker), “Choose to Serve the Lord” and “He Prepares a Way” with Angie Killian and most recently “Bed of Stone”(Brita Miles). His most recent album in 2022 is a compilation of hymn mash-ups and original songs entitled ZION.

Wayne Burton
Composer
Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Wayne began pursuing his musical interests early in life. His mother recalls that he was playing some songs on the piano by ear at the age of three. With a musical family and a mother who was a piano teacher, Wayne went through training mainly on the piano in his younger years. During high school, Wayne began taking a great interest in singing and songwriting. While his parents were gone for their nightly walk, Wayne would pour out his heart through original love song ballads.
Over time he overcame his shy nature and began to perform his songs for more people. Prior to serving a mission for the church, Wayne wrote his first gospel song for a friend’s missionary farewell. This was the start of a powerful interest in sharing faith and bearing testimony through music.
Wayne’s music is found in church bookstores everywhere and featured on numerous LDS radio programs. His songs have been performed by groups in North America, Europe and Asia. Wayne performed as part of the 2002 Winter Olympics music festival, and in many locations beyond the US and Canada including Mexico, Japan, Thailand and other Asian countries. He has lectured at BYU Education Week and has won the first place Award of Distinction in the General Church music contest four times in recent years. In all Wayne has contributed music to 28 other LDS albums besides his own solo projects.

Trey Warner
Captain Moroni / Alma the Younger (Bonus Tracks)
When you first see Trey Warner, this towering tour de force, your mind simply isn’t prepared for the earnest, humble fellow that wants to learn about you; that wants to open up about his own self-loathing and mine courageously into those self aspersions to elevate his art.
Fronting bands that played with Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Jimmy Eat World, Plain White T’s and Lifehouse, and having spent years writing under Warner/Chappel Music creating music now woven into the fabric of networks like ESPN, Trey is a proven songwriter with an undeniable sense of melody. His sound continues to evolve and represents the more refined step from where the infectious pop-punk of the oughts wanted to go. Often through clever yet vulnerable lyrics, Warner manages to bend over-arching maxims to the will of his perceived shortcomings… making you want to laugh and root for him at the same time.
